Remembering Our Relationship With Death
Pet Death Doula

Compassionately holding space for animals and their guardians, without judgement, as they courageously navigate the death process with Resilience, Care, and Love.

Choosing to be a steward to an animal companion means knowing that there will come a day when they lead us through the transformative fires of death. Often we are faced with choices we did not predict or expect, and it can feel even more difficult to navigate when it feels like the animal cannot communicate with us what they desire.
Here’s the thing.
They can, and do, communicate their needs and desires with us.
They are in the soft looks, the gentle movements of their body, the level of get-up-and-go they embody, the subtle shifts in their energetic bodies. Translating that communication, and remaining open to it when it may point to something we are not yet ready to face, is the challenge for us guardians.
It is an invitation from our animal to open to something greater than ourselves, to view the dying process through their eyes, to come to know that the physical transition is not an end to their Being. Instead, they invite us to feel it as a release of their energy and soul from the physical body, and it allows them to embark on their next great adventure.
Cosmic Heartline is home for this medicine.
Matter, after all, is never created or destroyed, it is simply transformed into different states of being.
Taught by my animals and the journeys through death I have walked with them, I have come to understand that Death can be greeted as a friend – one that we do not wish to see often, but, when she comes, we can welcome with a gentle, compassionate heart. With the understanding that we are being guided once more into the fires of transformation.
Our beloved animal is inviting us to a new level of understanding and awareness, one of their greatest lessons they can help us learn, and we are given the opportunity to show them the last greatest act of unconditional love we could ever give them.
A peaceful, gentle transition back to the cosmos, surrounded by love and trust and a knowing that they are truly seen.
From that moment onward, they will forever be a part of us, and our own Cosmic Heartline.

GUIDING VALUES
COMPASSION, COURAGE, RESILIENCE
In reality, one value cannot be sustained without the other.
Each one supports the next, and the nurturance of them all provides a strong, vibrant reminder of life force.
LIKE A TALL, MIGHTY, GRACEFUL TREE.
Resilience
The branches and crown of the tree that is Cosmic Heartline–resilience through the storms of grief, through the doubt that may come up, or resilience in the face of judgmental opinions from external sources.
Courage
The trunk of Cosmic Heartline -- supporting animal guardians in finding their courage for making difficult choices, facing heartbreaking realities, and choosing to move towards and through them with Care and Love for their beloved animals at the forefront. The courage it takes to make those choices, and walk that road, is not lost on me or forgotten, and will be honored in my work with clients.
The roots of Cosmic Heartline, the foundation, grounding, and anchor of the business and the work. It is the heart, the life source for what I do and why. Compassion and care for the animals, their humans, and the process of approaching and moving through the death transition.

Bey hops up onto the bed in our hotel room, and as he does, he releases a harumph. True asks to get onto the bed with him, so I stoop down to lift him up. True crawls over to Bey, gently but enthusiastically asking for his approval. With a bit of chagrin on his face, Bey releases one more aloof “harumph,” before laying onto his side and letting True sidle up next to him.
